Prof. Anastasios A. Economides is Full Professor at the University of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, Greece and member of the Board of Directors of the "Educational Research Institute and Development" of the International University of Greece.
He is Founder and Director of the SMILE (Smart & Mobile Interactive Learning Environments) laboratory at the University of Macedonia. His research interests include personalized and collaborative learning & assessment, user experience and acceptance of smart systems and services. He has published over three hundred peer-reviewed papers and received over 6000 citations.
He teaches courses (postgraduate, undergraduate and continuing education) on Educational Technology, E-Business & E-Commerce, Information Systems Applications in Economics and Business, Computer Networks, etc.
He received the Dipl.Eng. degree (1984) in electrical engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Holding a Fulbright and a Greek State Fellowship, he received the M.Sc. (1987) and the Ph.D. (1990) degrees in computer engineering from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
He has been the Director of the Postgraduate Program in Information Systems (2008-2014) at the University of Macedonia. He has been a Visiting Professor at the University Pompeu Fabra (2015), Open University of Catalonia (2014), University of Southern California (1998), Technical University of Denmark (1997), University of Helsinki (1997) & Helsinki University of Technology (1997). He has been a keynote speaker (plenary, invited speaker) and program committee member in many international conferences, as well as an editorial committee member in many international journals. He has received dozens of research awards (e.g. Best Conference papers) and fellowships (e.g. Greek Fellowships Foundation, Fulbright). Finally, he has been the principal investigator and has participated in many funded projects.
